Travelling to Corsica with your dog

PETS | CORSICA

Dogs are welcome on-board La Méridionale's ships to Corsica.
Facilities are provided so your pet can accompany you to discover the Island of Beauty.

Conditions for taking the ferry to Corsica with your dog

To travel to Corsica with your dog on-board one of La Méridionale's ferries, your pet must be mentioned on the booking.

For reasons of hygiene and allergy as well as for everyone's comfort, pets (irrespective of whether they are dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, etc.) are not permitted in areas reserved for passengers (cabins, armchair lounge, bars, restaurants, decks, etc.).

This rule does not apply to guide and assistance dogs that remain with their owner during the crossing.

In your vehicle or in our kennel

To enable holidaymakers and residents to travel to Corsica with their dog, La Méridionale ferries (apart from Pelagos) are equipped with an air-conditioned kennel. Your pet is placed in a secure, individual pen in the kennel. To ensure smaller dogs and cats are comfortable, we advise you to place them in a suitable carrier to install in the compartment booked. You'll need a €1 coin to lock your pen, which you'll collect when you leave the ferry.

Another solution for travelling to Corsica with your dog on-board La Méridionale: you may leave your dog in your vehicle, in the compartment they're used to being in, and leave the windows partially open. It is formally forbidden to leave a dog or other pet in the boot of a vehicle.
Remember to bring a bowl of water and some dry food for the crossing for your pet in the kennel or in your vehicle.

During the crossing, you cannot visit your pet. Our crew makes regular checks and visits to your pets on the parking deck and in the kennel.

Travelling to Corsica with a category 1 or 2 dog

You can travel to Corsica with dogs of any category. Our shipping company accepts pet dogs referred to as of category one provided they remain in their owner's vehicle. Category one and two pet dogs must be muzzled during their trip on-board.
To ensure your pet travels in the best possible way, make sure to take it for a long walk so they can relax before boarding the ferry. And to be sure you board with total peace of mind, check our page for the documents required to prepare your crossing

Prepare your crossing with your pet

Some practical advice:

  • Give your pet a light meal about 10 hours before you leave
  • For journeys of less than 12 hours, leave your pet on a diet to avoid the risk of vomiting
  • Walk and relax your pet before making the crossing
  • If your pet is easily nervous, you can administer a medicine prescribed by your vet
