Carrying freight, in particular to Corsica, is La Méridionale's historic business. We operate regular sea links between Marseille and Corsica and ensure your cargo is carried under the best possible conditions.
Rolling freight is also carried to Tanger-Med 3 times a week.
Freight carriage to Corsica
Our ro-ro ships are designed to optimize rolling freight loading. They boast large cargo capacity spread over several decks, ensuring availability and space for your trailers. Our experience means we can deal with all types of
carriage:

On-board our ships, our crews and our teams of stevedores ensure your cargo is loaded safely and securely thanks to tried and tested processes, in particular as regards:
- lashing rolling stock and trailers (securing to the ship);
- precautionary measures for loads by installing trestles (support stands) to ease the weight of trailer landing gear
- maintaining the temperature of refrigerated loads in line with your instructions
Improved efficiency through technology
Since 2004, our freight loading terminal in Marseille has been equipped with a tunnel for identifying and measuring freight.
This system, which rolling stock boarding must go through, takes images of the vehicles from 14 angles, measures them, records them and helps optimize processes in a significant way.
Enhanced performance through digitization
To improve our services and to enable our customers to be more productive, we have rolled out a digitization solution combining a dedicated 'web portal' and a 'Connected Corsica Terminal' (CCT) app that our teams use at our freight loading terminal.
Our customers have access to the 'web portal' where they can easily and autonomously plan their bookings, remotely check the status of their shipment and benefit from digitized document management.
Our CCT app enables our operators (Officers, seagoing crew and stevedores) to real-time record the key steps for loading, from storage on the tarmac through the location of the load on-board to disembarking.
Surveillance of trailers waiting in Marseille*
Trailers waiting for availability to board a ro-ro ship to Corsica can benefit from a free security service on our loading docks at the port of Marseille. Our Marseille agency freight department is on hand to explain to you how this service works.
*This option is not available for trailers carrying hazardous materials or temperature-controlled cargo.
Drivers travel under the best conditions
Even if our ships are, first and foremost, designed for carrying rolling freight, they also offer all the comfort required so that hauliers may accompany their loads under the best conditions and rest during the crossing.
To this end, they are provided with an equipped cabin and half-board in our catering spaces.
