Traveling to Morocco with your dog: Are pets allowed on board?

When visiting family or spending a few months at a second home, it is common to travel to Morocco with your dog or cat. At La Méridionale, our ferries and staff welcome you with your pet.

Pets are welcome on ferries heading to Morocco. For hygiene and decency reasons, animals do not have access to areas designated for travelers such as cabins, restaurants, or the promenade deck. Only guide dogs and assistance animals can stay with their owner throughout the crossing.

Your pet must be included in your ferry reservation to Morocco to be allowed on board. Without a valid ticket, it is not possible to travel to Morocco with your dog or cat on a La Méridionale ferry.

A kennel on board the Girolata

To travel to Morocco with your dog, the Marseille-Tanger Med crossing must be done on the Girolata. This ship has a kennel to accommodate pets. You cannot travel on the Pelagos with a pet.

If you are traveling to Morocco with a small dog or a cat, prepare a transport crate suitable for its size. It will be placed in the kennel box to help it feel more secure.

Traveling to Morocco with your dog or cat also requires preparing its suitcase. Remember to bring:

• a padlock to secure the kennel area
• water and food
• bowls
• a leash for your dog
• a bag to collect waste.

To go to Morocco with a second-category dog, you must also provide a muzzle that it will wear during outings.

Finally, it is essential to present the pet's health record, kept up to date, to travel to Morocco with your dog or cat. It will be requested upon arrival by customs authorities. Other documents such as a rabies vaccination certificate or a health certificate issued by a veterinarian may be required depending on the situation.

During the crossing, the kennel is accessible to passengers at the times indicated by the Purser. You can visit your pet to play with it, feed it, and reassure it.

An area is set up outside for walking dogs on leashes and under the responsibility of their owners.
