La Méridionale, historic shipping company carrying freight to Corsica, runs daily links from Marseille to Corsica.
Since 2020, it has also been operating the sea crossing between the ports of Marseille and Tanger-Med.
Calculating freight charges
Freight pricing is the same all year round. Freight carriage cost to Corsica and to Morocco is calculated based on:
- The number of linear metres carried (the minimum chargeable is 6 metres);
Carriage of oversized freight and special loads is subject to a surcharge.
Special pricing is applied for specific types of carriage such as:
- Passenger vehicles in a commercial transaction
- Utility vans
- Unaccompanied vehicles
- Carriage of horses
- Utility vehicles, etc.
Fixed costs and port services are added to this price.
Finally, in special cases, La Méridionale can collect tax and charges on behalf of ports of call.
